One click reveals hidden n-gons, double extrusions, and non-manifold geometry in your model, with a live counter keeping track of all three as you work.

Faces with more than four sides. They pinch when smoothed and triangulate unpredictably on export.
Extrude pressed twice without moving leaves squashed faces stacked on top of each other. Invisible in the viewport, obvious in a bevel.
An edge shared by three or more faces, or pieces touching at a single corner. The kind of geometry that breaks booleans, bakes and game engines.
Select an object, a whole group or just some faces, then use the Polycop button on your shelf.
Every visible piece you selected is checked, hidden pieces are skipped, and the problems are selected for you. The Script Editor lists the problem pieces, worst first. Press F8 afterwards to select just the problem pieces, ready for Isolate Select.
Polycop busted 12 pieces: 40 n-gons, 1 double extrude.
Shows or hides a running total in the top-left of the viewport. It updates as you model, so a stray double extrude shows up the moment you make it.
N-gons 0 | Double extrudes 0 | Non-manifold 0
Unzip the download anywhere on your computer.
Click the shelf tab you want the button on, then drag drag_into_maya_to_install_polycop_lite.py into Maya's viewport.
The Polycop button appears at the end of that shelf. To update later, drag in the new installer the same way. It updates the button wherever it is and never adds a second one.
Maya 2023 or newer. It's tested on Maya 2024, 2025 and 2027.
No, and that's deliberate. Polycop shows you exactly where the problems are; how to fix each one is a modelling decision that should stay with you.
On normal models it's instant. On very heavy meshes it counts less often, so Maya stays responsive.
Polycop is tested on Windows. Mac and Linux haven't been tested yet.
Right-click the Polycop button and choose Delete, then delete polycop_lite.py from your Maya scripts folder and polycop_lite.png from your Maya prefs/icons folder.
Free for everyone. The download is handled by Gumroad, where you can also choose to hear about new Mesh Labz tools.
